Funny Story about being Frugal

So, my mom calls me the other day. She says, Can I ask you something? You know I don't like to pry into your private life or anything (I am thinking, oh my, what on earth is she going to ask me) but I was reading your blog and I just wondered, Are you and Wade ok financially? I instantly start laughing. She continues to say that she was reading that I was trying to give up department store cosmetics and this is why she thought we might be struggling. I said No Mom, we are just fine, I just decided that it might be a little ridiculous that I spend $20 bucks on a tube of lipstick! So, now it's soapbox time. First, friends and family, we are just fine financially. While we will be happy to take any money you would like to send us, we don't need it ;) Just because we don't HAVE to be frugal, doesn't mean we shouldn't be. My personal philosophy is if you can get it for free or cheap, you should! Plus, I like the game of it all - it's sorta a hobby for me - I love to find the best deal and then tell all my friends ;) I guess I feel that we work hard and we should try to keep as much of our money with us as possible - or be able to spend more on things we actually enjoy like travel vs. things we could care less about like shampoo or razors. That is just my philosophy though, to each their own. Off soapbox now!

eta: I told Wade about this but before I told him about the reason she thought this (blog posts), he says "Is it because of all the crazy coupon stuff you do?" Hee Hee. He makes fun, but he loves seeing what I bring home each time I go out!

Remember Allison from the yahoo group? She once told me that now that she stays home it is her new "job" to save as much money as she can.

I thought that was a good way of looking at it.

But, if it's truly a "job" of a SAHM, I'm going to get fired. I'm terrible at it (and if it weren't for you, I'd make little effort).
