Kite Flying

We have been experimenting with Kite Flying here. Believe me, there is PLENTY of wind - almost too much. And it's very erratic. We get crazy gusts and then nothing, which makes for a lot of kite accidents. But we still had fun. Keira thought it was fun to just run around with it!

Mish Mash

First I fell off the coupon wagon and now I have fallen off the blogging wagon! My goodness what is wrong with me? Nothing interesting to post about I guess. We had a pretty low key last week (ultrasound aside obviously) - Wade was gone all week and we had lots of fun with friends and playdates and parkdates and storytime-dates! But we are glad to have daddy back! We grilled out a bunch this weekend though the weather wasn't as great as it was supposed to be. It was supposed to be super nice as of the forecast on thursday but then when I checked on friday it was severe weather all weekend. Though we really didn't get any severe weather (fingers crossed for the rest of the day) some areas around us did with a tornado touching down about 40 minutes from here.

I made this yummy dessert ( http://www.kraftfoods.com/kf/recipes/black-forest-mousse-dessert-90590.aspx)
this weekend and I seriously can't keep a spoon out of the bowl! How is that for something interesting to post?!?!

I've come in 2nd in this fantasy golf league that I am in for about the bizillionth week in a row. For those who know me well, you'll know that my competive side can hardly take it and I am likely to explode soon. And as I am sure you are wondering, No, I don't know a single thing about golf other than the higher the negative the better and always pick Tiger Woods - some old friends play in it and invited me to join - but part of the excitement of winning (or almost winning) is that for the most part I know nothing and they are all golf addicts!

I'll try to have a more interesting week this week so I'll have more to blog about!

Sometimes you've got to have Faith!

I had worked myself into a tizzy about this appointment today last week when I finally decided to stop stressing and decided that it was out of my hands and that I had to have Faith that everything was going to be just fine today. And it was! Baby was kicking and squirming and the heart rate was great at 163 ... old wives tale says Girl ... The bleed or non-fusion or whatever it is/was has gotten very very small, so that is great news. This was also the NT scan - the NT measurement was 1.4 which is a great measurment - they like to see anything below 3.5. Got some pics of the baby. Our next appointment will be at 17 or 18 weeks for a level 2 ultrasound at the Peri's office again - that is when we will be able to see kidneys functioning properly. So basically one more hurdle, for now, all is well! This pic below the hand or foot - I can't remember - I think the foot?? Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers - keep them coming!

Butterflies

We made butterflies yesterday - another great gift from my secret pal! Keira loves to paint!
I've got my own butterflies going on ... updates tomorrow.

Free Cone Day

We had a good time at Free Cone Day today - Who doesn't love free ice cream??? The place was crazy busy, but they were very efficient - here are some of the great pics!

Hmm, this is good!

Mom's attempt to keep me clean ... didn't work!

I can't believe I am soo messy!

I've fallen off the wagon, gardening, and other misc.

So I am ready to admit that I have fallen off the wagon -- GASP -- I know, can you believe, the self titled coupon queen and not done anything with coupons in about 2 weeks. Yikes! With the take it easy routine, I haven't been doing my CVS/WAGS stuff because getting Keira in and out of the vehicle is tough, so I have just skipped it. But today I am determined to get my coupons under control!!! Sadly, it may take a few hours, but all I've got is time since Wade is gone all week!

On to gardening ... most of the work thus far has been in the planning stages as everything I have read says you really shouldn't plant outside here until the middle of May. I have all my stuff planned out on little graphing sheets and have decided everything that we are going to plant - Lettuce, Tomatoes, Green Peppers, Carrots, Peas, Onions, and Cucumbers. Hopefully with all that, something will come up! We have started cucumbers and peas in the house - pics are below. Keira has been totally loving it so far. She loved planting the seeds and she was so excited to see something coming up. She wants to water every day! I think this coming weekend we will plant the lettuce and carrots outside as they are supposed to be more hardy and able to withstand cold weather should we get any.

Hmm, what else? Wade left this afternoon for Mexico for the week. It was quite an ordeal for Keira. She saw the suitcase and wanted to know where her and Mommy's suitcase was. When I told her only daddy was going, the waterworks began. Took about an hour for her to be settled down. And I have been asked no less than 10 times, "is daddy home yet?" How do you explain how long a week is to a 3 year old? So sad. On a positive note, the weather forecast fr the next week is FABULOUS! 66 for a couple of days - mid 70's for a couple of days and actually getting into the 80's this week! Hooray for warm weather and playing outside.
I'm sure there will be more updates this week, so stay tuned!

Yes, I know, I promised to post gardening pictures and that hasn't happened - hopefully this weekend! The camera is currently hiding from me - when I find it, I'll post them! Had a fun MOMS club event this morning for all you MOMS clubbers out there - we did a PJ breakfast pitch in at one of the moms houses. Keira really couldn't understand why we were going anywhere in our PJs, but went along just the same. It was a nice relaxing morning.

Wade is headed out of town for the entire week, leaving sunday afternoon. He has to go to Mexico for the week. Ugh. Wade hasn't had to travel for quite sometime, so I am out of the habit of parenting solo - it may be a long week! I am trying to come up with lots of activities for the week!

Another ultrasound is scheduled for Wednesday of next week. This one is at a Peri's office. As many of you know, ultrasounds are a nerve wracking event for me and I will have to go to this one on my own since Wade is out of town - so let's keep those thoughts and prayers coming!

Weather is great here today so looks like we'll be playing outside after nap. And I think a trip to chuck e cheese is planned for the weekend. Hope ya'll have a great weekend!

School Pics

Here it is, Keira's first ever school picture! I thought it turned out pretty cute. We also got one that has her with the whole class and she loves that one - she goes through and names all the kids, it's pretty cute. I didn't order very many because I didn't think they would turn out very well - Keira and professional pictures are a difficult match these days - but these are cute, may have to order more!

More Crafts!

We are becoming quite crafty over here in Kansas. Yesterday we did a sand craft to fill a bottle with different colors and then made a face on him. Keira really had fun with this one. She was the one who suggested we put eyebrows on him! The top picture shows that she found other ways to use the funnel - as a megaphone! Ooh, and I found a way on line to color your own sand and we have an extra 50 pound bag left over from the sandbox under the swingset, so you may be seeing lots of sand crafts in the future!

We've also started some gardening indoors - I should have pics to post on that later today or tomorrow!

Shhh, Peanut is Sleeping!

Today we were in Keira's room reading stories and Peanut was sleeping on the floor next to us. Keira then tells me that I have to be quiet because Peanut is taking a nap. She then decided that Peanut needed a blanket and a pillow to properly take a nap. So she pulls out her pillow and puts it under Peanut's head, put her blanket over Peanut and then put all her stuffed animals under the covers with Peanut. So cute!

Crafts!

Another take it easy activity ... Crafts. Thanks to my Secret Pal we had some colored noodles to play with last week. Keira made several necklaces and did some on paper too!

Eggs!

So I bought this egg kit without reading the back - BIG MISTAKE! It was a Tie Dye kit, the eggs on the front looked really cool - but it was quite the messy process which involved using an eye dropper - oh boy! Keira had fun though!

Dress Up

In my quest to "take it easy" we have been doing lots of crafts and indoor activities - one of Keira's favorite has been dress up! She is a true princess!

Snow!

This is now a couple of weeks old now I think - but we had snow on saturday, hopefully our last one of the season - Keira had fun playing in it - it was really good packing snow and great for making snow balls! Keira enjoyed going down the slide as it was super fast!

Kids say the funniest things

Me to Keira: I am going to go hop in the shower.

Keira (with a look of fear on her face): Mommy, NO, don't hop in the shower, you'll get hurt!

What a difference a week makes!

So we had our dr. appointment today. It was mostly good news. The bleed or whatever it is, is still there. However, the doc isn't convinced now that it is a bleed. It looks like it may be that the amniotic sac hasn't fused yet to something (don't ask me what that something is, I can't remember). She has seen this up to 20 weeks or so. It is not on the side of the placenta and the placenta and the amniotic sac look great, so her words were "This isn't something we are going to worry about at this point" Easier said than done, but she did make me feel pretty ok about it. They are going to monitor it - I have an ultrasound coming up on the 20th for 1st trimester screening and they will check it then and basically check it every 4 weeks after until it looks the way they want it to. I am off bedrest but on some restriction. No lifting (including Keira), no working out, pelvic rest - but other than that, normal life. So live as normally as possible but take it easy. This ultrasound was pretty great. The baby was VERY active - we got to see the baby kicking, punching, and wiggling around. We could see fingers, legs, arms, the jaw bone, and of course the heart beating. It really helped to see all this. Compare this to last week when really all we saw something that looked like a peanut with a heartbeat. Here are the pics for comparison. It is amazing how much difference a week can make.

Last Monday - 8 Weeks 5 days

Today - 9 Weeks 6 days

Boring Boring Boring

Sorry I haven't been posting lately - my life is sooo boring at the moment, there really isn't' much to post about. Physically, things are the same as when I last posted. No more active bleeding, a little bit of brown ick here and there, but that is it. The bedrest thing has gotten old quickly. I am such a do-it-yourselfer that it is very difficult to just lay here and do nothing but read or surf the Internet. I have averaged 3 books a day. Mark has been great with doing the dishes, fixing dinner (that my MOMS club has been lovely enough to drop by every night!), even offering to do laundry, etc. But it is still weird for someone else to be doing those things for you. Mark calls himself my houseboy. hee hee. Keira is getting a little sick of the bedrest as well. She doesn't understand why I can't pick her up. After her nap the other day she said, "Mommy, your boo-boo is all better now so you can pick me up, right?" So sad. I have a dr. appointment tomorrow which is good and bad. As you can imagine, ultrasounds are not exactly my favorite things. So I sit here and wait for tomorrow morning with an impending sense of dread. Hopefully everything is just fine and we will move on to the next milestone. Keep your fingers crossed and say your prayers for me tonight. I'll catch up with ya'll tomorrow.

The Latest

Staying off your feet entirely is just about impossible I have decided. Even when you have help. But I am doing the best I can to resist the urge to do stuff. I have only been up a couple of times for very short periods of time. The rest of my time has been spent reading, watching tv (y'all know how much I love Price is Right!), and surfing the internet. I am starting to get bored. Should be a fun rest of the week. Bleeding is down now to just very very light brown spotting, which they tell me is good news. I forgot until about 20 minutes ago that we have tickets to go see Disney on Ice this weekend. So I will have to call the Dr. about that. I am thinking if bleeding has subsided than maybe it will be ok since we will be sitting the whole time, but we'll have to see. It may be a daddy daughter event. So that is all I know. Good news at this point. I'll keep you posted.
