Events of the last two days
As many of you have seen my post on facebook asking for prayers, I feel it only right to share with you what is going on with us. This is not exactly the way we wanted to share the news with everyone, but it is what it is. The big news is ... I am pregnant! A little over 8 weeks. The not so good news is that last night and today I have been experiencing a lot of bleeding. Bright red bleeding as well as passing a few large clots. I thought for sure I had lost the baby last night. You pass a clot that size and really, there is nothing else to think. And with what happened last November, I don't tend to think the best at this point. The Dr. on call last night was sure that it wasn't, but trust me, you see a clot like that and there is no other conclusion to be drawn. So I went to the Dr. this morning for an ultrasound. And got some good news. There on the screen was our little bean with the heart beating away. Talk about a tear filled moment. We got to hear and see the heart beat. However, they did see some bleeding on the ultrasound. A sub-chronic bleed is what they called it. Basically, though, not a lot of info other than this is what you have, don't know what causes it, can't do anything to fix it, have to wait it out. Some women go on to have perfectly normal pregnancies after this, others miscarry. I will basically be on bedrest for the next week and then go back for another ultrasound a week from tuesday to see if the bleeding is better, worse, or the same. The brights spots right now are that the bleeding has tapered down to spotting and that she could see some signs on the ultrasound of the bleed area already getting smaller. But again, no guarantees, it could really go either way. We are trying to stay positive and seeing that little heartbeat sure helped. Mark (my step-dad) is going to come out this week to help with Keira, so that will help tremendously with me trying to rest. As most of you know, rest and a 3 year old dont' really belong in the same sentence. So that is what I know. If you would continue to send your happy thoughts and prayers our way, I would certainly appreciate it. I will be sure to keep you updated as I will likely have very little else to do ;)

Free Bowling
Sorry I haven't been posting too many deals lately. Just been busy I guess. But here is a good one!
Found this on-line. Kids can bowl 2 games of bowling, everyday for the whole summer, FREE! Olathe's Mission Bowl is one of the participating centers. Just click on the link below, click on Kansas and scroll to Olathe. There is a form on-line to complete and then they e-mail you the coupons each week. Still have to pay for shoe rental, but hey, pretty cheap summer activity!

Soccer Class
Keira had her first soccer class today. This isn't what I would have thought of as your typical soccer class. They spend most of the time singing songs, and playing games to get them used to kicking the ball and not picking up the ball - this was not yet successful with Keira though! Here is a little video of some of the class.

The Swingset is finished!
With very little help from me and I do mean very little, the swingset is finished. Wade did an excellent job and Keira spent all day Sunday playing on it - we had great weather and never got the rain they kept predicting. The next step in the process is to get some mulch for underneath it. Here are some pics with Keira playing on it!

Operation Swinger
If you are not a frequent reader of this blog, you probably read the title and wondered what the heck was going on in the Hacker household :) I can assure you we are very PG rated here, well, most of the time ;) Keira has decided to the call the swingset her Swinger. Everyday when Wade gets home, she asks "Daddy, is my swinger done yet?" Wade, bless his heart, has come home from work everyday this week, played with Keira, ate dinner, and then gone to work on that thing in the garage. He has made quite a bit of progress and is now to the point where he has to move it outside, so that is the Sat/Sun project. Unfortunately, it is supposed to rain, so it may get postponed. We'll see. Here is a pic of him working on the glider - he is not a fan of picture taking, especially when he is working on something, I think this fake smile says it all.

Zoo

The weather was absolutely fantastic today, so we took advantage and went to the Zoo today. It was great. We went when it opened and for the first hour and a half, it was really nice - hardly anyone there - though by the time we left, it was crazy busy. The line to get in when we left was out in the parking lot. Keira's favorite today was the giraffes, hippopotamuses, and rhinoceroses. I actually had Keira singing that christmas song - I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas - it was pretty funny! Oh and she also loved the carousel as always! Keira walked almost the entire three hours that we were there, so we came home and she took a good nap! Then more playing outside ... a great day!

Sappy
Ok, so I know I am one of those sappy, feel good, believes a happy ending is always possible type people - but am I the only one that likes those Liberty Mutual commercials that show people doing small random acts of kindness that in turn inspire others to do good for others? I love those commercials!

We did what?!?
So we did what I believe to be a right of passage during parenthood ... we bought a swingset. While I am super excited about the swingset, I know Keira will love it, we bought it at TRU which does not offer installation services (and believe me, I offered up the cash!). So it looks like the we'll be putting this monstrosity together ourselves. Fun, yeah, fun. Wade, of course, is supremely confident that it will be no problem. Ha! So yesterday we spent about 2.5 hours just sorting and labeling. None of the wood was labeled, so it took about an hour to label it all. Then we spent about an hour and a half sorting all of the hardware - we decided to create a baggie for each step and place all the hardware needed for each step in the baggie (hmm, someone has a type A personality here, don't they? ) I figured it would be much easier to grab one baggie per step than try to sort through it all at the time of construction. So, I'll keep you updated on our progress and post some pics when we are done. But don't hold your breath, it may be awhile ;)

Sleep Issues
So we've been having some sleep issues with Keira. And before I even start this story, I will be the first to admit that as parents, we have been very very lucky with Keira and sleeping. She has slept thru the night since she was 10 weeks old. Since that time, we have never, not once had to get up in the middle of the night with her. She's never been sick or anything like that that has kept her up through the night. She is in bed every night by 7:30 and usually asleep shortly thereafter. She has only gotten out of her big girl bed once since we switched her 8 months or so ago. So, like I said, we have been very lucky in terms of sleep. Over the last week, Keira has started to say that she is scared when we are trying to leave the room after story. She then starts crying hysterically. It is the most heart breaking thing to hear your child say they are scared. We can't get her to say what she is scared of and Wade suspects it is just a ploy to keep us in the room longer. We tried doing extra stories, leaving lights on, doors open, giving her a flashlight to keep in bed with her, going through the closets and under the bed so she knows nothing is there, reading a story about other kids (Ernie is a kid, right???) that are scared of going to bed, but nothing seems to work. Here is hoping this is just a phase that ends very very quickly.

Filet O Fish Commercial
Have you seen this commercial? I can't stand it, but Wade runs around the house singing it all the time ... mostly because I don't like it I think!

Breakfast Hot Pockets
So I am starting to feel a little like Betty Crocker. Just a little ... I have never considered myself a good cook, but am on this making stuff from scratch kick. I had a baking day (really a baking morning) the other day where I made muffins, pancakes, and breakfast hot pockets. The breakfast hot pockets were by far the most complicated as I made the dough from scratch too - and I was very nervous about how they would turn out. They took some time, so I was going to be very disappointed if Wade didn't like them. But they passed the Wade test and he has had them for breakfast every morning since. He loved them! Yippee! So now I have a freezer full of breakfast items, homemade and nutritious!

The Trip
So I am finally getting back to blogging! Yeah! With the exception of the dumb time change, we seem to be back on schedule today. So, the trip ...

We had a wonderful time. It was too short as always. The resort was nice, in fact we didn't leave it the entire time we were there, which was just fine by me. It was an all-inclusive deal, so there was plenty of food on property to choose from. My favorite was a toss up between these yummy pork tostadas or something that tasted like bourbon chicken from the japanese resturant they had. Both yummy! And they had a place that you could get smoothies all day long. Keira was a fan!

The weather was perfect - mid-80's every day. The beach water was warm, but the pool water was pretty cold. Though Keira didn't mind. We were in the pool at 9:00 every morning regardless of water temperature. Wade always got first shift every day ;) Keira loved the the water and loved to move from one pool to another.

She was hot and cold with the beach. One day she loved it, the next day she wanted nothing to do with it. But we were able to find something to do to keep us busy every day ;)

The resort had lots of crafts fo the kids and Keira painted a ceramic cat one day. A good time was had by all - we were sorry to leave, we need to figure out a way to live in a place like that!
